I'm too stingy for Milan

Blimey things are expensive here. I don't mind spending money on something nice, but not without result (or at least something shiny).

This morning's hotel breakfast would have been €29 (hey! I just learned how to make a € euro sign) but (a) it's expensive and (b) I'd eat like a pig to get value for money, so I opted for a €3.50 (look I did it again) McCafe breakfast at the shopping centre near the training site at Via Torri Bianche. I also had a little look around - they have a food hall and a books/tech shop.

I went to the designated building and floor, only to find it was a different building and floor, but it was only about 100 yards away so no real problem.

Alleged work location

The training room would have been fine for 13 delegates, except for the FOUR monitor screens towards the end off the room (will get a picture tomorrow), but at least it all works. I usually get a bit drawn to the screen the delegates are watching, now I'm drawn to all four!

A few delegates have to finish before 15:00 on Thursday, so we'll need to start the exam about 13:30. That suits me as I get go into Milan early :)

The morning was a bit hard going; I seemed to have quite a time explaining the roles of the service owner, process owner/manager/practitioner, but I think we got there in the end.

For lunch we popped next door. The 1 hour lunch lasted about 1.5 hours, but it was a pleasant experience.

The afternoon went well, and we almost got back on track (just one process - about 25 minutes behind schedule). They asked me if I wanted to join them for a pizza at about 20:00 but I couldn't really hang around for 3 hours, or justify 2 more taxis!

I had a stroll round the shopping centre,
bought 2 nights' food for €25,
a replacement camera-USB cable
and a new webcam in the shape
of a little man. Now those skype
meetings for work will fly by!

Back in the taxi (another €30) to the hotel. I've already booked it for tomorrow morning (not knowing of any alternative) but after a bit more research of Italian websites I'm going to try the Z321/SP2 bus tomorrow night. It runs right past Via Torri Bianche into Monza, so I'll probably take it right into the railway station then mooch north through central Monza back to the hotel.

Sounds like a plan.

Hotel lobby this morning. Obviously the
'many worlds' theory supported here.

Shiny piano. No I didn't play it

Fabulous old stuff

It's all a bit Phileas Fogg.

Ah. In uploading these pictures I reaslise I haven't bought a USB-camera cable. I've actually bought another USB-Blackberry cable. Doh!
