Very imPorto

Last day in Porto for this trip...

This way to the training room, overseeing shoppers

Not sure if 'Pay-Back' room is for expenses, or refunds,
but it sounds nicely menacing

Lunchtime at the local salty seadog eatery

There's some Bacalhau in there somewhere - salted cod fish
They ring a bell when your food's ready!

Zippy decided to go into business solo,
ditching Bungle and George to fend for themselves

Time for the exam
- but it's not in the usual training room

Into the warehouse!

Out the back and up the stairs
What an adventure!

The physical part of the exam is almost over!

They're through that door.
Doing their exam.
I tiptoe away and leave them to it

Porto in daylight!
I pop into the centre via a taxi

I'll have to visit that next time

Love the 'just stick another floor on top' approach to building

Where's Wally's cat?!

I'm finally up the tower!

Panorama time!

You can see the red roofs a lot easier in the daytime

How happy am I to get up here at last?

Looking down at the church

Looking UP at the summit

Time to go home.

It only took 2 hours on the plane,
1 hour waiting for the coach,
45 minutes ON the coach,
30 minutes in Woking
30 minutes to finally get back to my bed

Lovely trip but glad to be back

TelePorto

Day 2 of the training course - the additional materials for the extra delegates arrives - so that's all sorted...

Lunchtime I tackle the fabled Franceshina

Halfway through I'm wavering

and admit defeat shortly afterwards

I lose power from this unit to the laptop and projector
...just as I'm doing Incident Management,
workarounds and underlying Problems.

Back to the hotel -
the ubiquitous 'climbing Santas'
seem to be having a race

I head back to the tower, but it's closed
no ascension today

The Lello book store is open though

Looks like a Wizarding book shop!

books are piled everywhere
- it's actually quite hard to walk around them

Aha! the glass ceiling.
So it's true!

Books shaped like almost anything else

Down and out we go

They get about - like me!

Music venue shaped liked an alien craft

I look for a taxi to the west beach
which takes a while.
I find one at last, hop in, and this sigh appears.

Gym overlooking the beach
Now heading south

Biggest sand castle ever?
Well, a castle anyway.
It's getting almost too dark for photos.

I play with options for longer exposure night shots,
and use remote-drive so I'm not pressing the button
(hence shaking the camera)

Tricks with long-exposure shot

A very nice-looking Pizza Hut by the sea

Walking back east I'm facing Porto centre again

You could spot a nice bird here.
Allegedly

Westernmost bridge - what a cracker

Someone's on my mind
No need to lose one's head though

Tempting stairs

I succumb and LITERALLY rise to the challenge

Twisty streets

This sign reflects the eagerness of the pedestrians to cross. No mere saunter here. That's probably because zebra crossings here seem to merely indicate the POSSIBILITY of someone crossing, rather than a strict directive towards the driver.

Mr Sandman, bring me a dream...
How mysterious

Cool 'graffiti'; and Yes the camera recognised
it as a face to auto-focus on!

Nearing the St Luis (Gustav Effeil designed) bridge

Dilemma - climb up these steps
to reach the top of the bridge...

...or walk over the lower level?
Novelty wins and I cross south.

What's this then?

Another perspective

On crossing the river I'd found a little shop
and popped in for a drink.
What a find!!

Um Bongo Um Bongo
It wasn't in the Congo
But if you're running short-o
Then get some here in Porto!
