velvet is the night

Reminds me of a poem - but not enough for me actually to remember it. And no, Google didn't help either. Was it "She walks in velvet, like the night..."? No, it's not coming to me...

THAT reminds me there was a song by the Electric Light Orchestra called "Sweet is the Night" which is awesome. I was so young when I first heard it that I thought a Cartier ("So she starts to sway, checks her Cartier...") was a dress, not a watch.

THAT reminds me it's getting late and time to get on with it...

Where was I? ah yes well I saw THIS sign near to the stitching shop (more about that in a minute). For reasons of my own I thought it a very fetching sign so, quick as a flash (pun intended) I whipped out my device and took this picture, temporarly forgetting I was already holding an opened can of Pepsi-Light and promptly spilled much of it down my white t-shirt.

Anyway - just in case you want to know the arabic for "velvet", now you're sorted! Or you could type it into google-translation but where's the pepsi-risking fun in that?

This shop was next to the stitching shop which only had a few patterns and nothing particularly Islamic-looking. They did have loads of Christmas decoration designs though, and some re-creating famous pictures including semi-nudes! What is the Kingdom coming to? I didnt buy anything yet as I was underwhelmed. And it was closing for evening prayers.

Nor did I buy anything from the bookshop for the same reason. Didn't really fancy anything there, though I did see some gorgeous pink-coloured ductape for those little jobs around the house, and a book on Six Sigma.

Then I strolled to the Mexican Corner and waited for that to re-open, by which time I was more tired and less hungry so I came back to the hotel.

Another few miles walked! Go, me!
