More news from the Kingdom

A quick update on the stories of the day, especially that one about the King NOT meeting the Israelis.

Today's update is; "US confirm King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, did not meet Shimon Peres, the Israeli President. Such claims of the meeting were false, baseless and untrue"
So my inspired synonym for "untrue" was, in fact "untrue". Not only did the Saudis demand the US support their view, but also uncover why such a blatant and unhelpful remark had been made. Probably something to do with the two leaders, plus others, all being in the same room at the same conference I expect, but let's not be hasty.

The other main story was about how cinemas MAY be coming to Riyadh, but probably weren't. Somebody young and trendy said it would be good. Somebody rather important and conservative said they wouldn't. Certainly they are not in time for me to see "Star Trek the Movie" due out rather soon on Motorhead day*. Good job it wasn't out on StarWars day+, isn't it? Imagine the confusion!!
A major issue with cinemas would, apparently, be the segregation of the sexes, or of families and single men. In the UK the type of film being shown often has a similarly segregating effect, I always think.

More news tomorrow!

*Motorhead day is "the 8th of May! the 8th of May" (only Motorhead fans will get that so blah)

+StarWars day is, of course, "May the 4th...be with you" (everyone knows that)
