I decided to venture across the road to the shops for fruit and whatever, a mere 200 yards away. Alas, due to the urban planning and reliance on the motor car, it is impossible to actually cross the road without going several hundred yards north, crossing, then coming that distance south again. The same for the return trip, obviously.
I notice that the people constructing building have very little regard for anything like a continuous section of walkable footpath, and one often has to walk along the very edge of a road before going back into the comparative safety of the paved areas.
I went to the shops and bought grapes, apples and bananas. Aren't I good? I nearly bought some ice-cream but don't have my bowl or utensils with me. Some traveller I am. I did buy a little cordless kettle as my room doesn't have one. I would have held out but I bought some coffee yesterday!! And so I also bought a stainless steel travel mug - but I wanted one of those for ages so that was fine. And I bought some plastic cutlery.
That'll do for now.

Afternoon view from my window - without the orange glow, this timeI tried walking that way to the shops, but not a bridge, crossing or underpass in sight
My hotel just behind the tall hotel-in-progress down the left sideShops are opposite; vaguely near the tall yellow crane on the right side
This is the nearest crossing.
